One Electric Day
Dates: Mornington Racecourse – Saturday 19th November | Werribee Park – Sunday 20th November
One Electric Day has a stellar reputation as one of the best and most beloved one-day music festivals in Victoria, and this year will be no exception. 2022 marks a festival-first, with the proud introduction of an international headliner – none other than Suzi Quatro herself! Quatro adds her name and her musical talent to the list of Aussie headliners before her.
With a musical career spanning decades and hit music loved around the world, Suzi Quatro has earned her title as one of the queens of rock and roll. From her early days in her family band, the Pleasure Seekers, to her move to the UK and subsequent work with record producer Mickie Most in the 1970s, Quatro has cemented her role in the glam rock scene, making her a staple in the Australian charts.
The incredible One Electric Day line-up continues with Noiseworks, The Angels, Baby Animals, The Screaming Jets, and Chocolate Starfish.
Nick Cave and Warren Ellis at Hanging Rock
Dates: Friday 25 November and Saturday 26 November – Hanging Rock
Nick Cave: a name synonymous with the gothic rock scene, and with live performances that have been described as controversial. But Cave has a long and illustrious history in the music industry, a career that began in rural Victoria, and led him and his band to become a staple in the Melbourne post-punk scene.
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds formed as a band in 1983, and they are known as one of the most enduring names in gothic rock, with a discography spanning decades, and a legacy of intense, genre-swapping, and twisting music.
Warren Ellis, an Australian multi-talented instrumentalist, and vocalist joined the band in 1997, and now tours with Cave as part of Grinderman.
Now, Cave and Ellis are set to kick off an Australian tour of their own. The Carnage Tour follows the release of the duo’s album of the same name and sees them headlining all around the country, including at the iconic Hanging Rock on the dates listed above.
First & Forever – A Celebration of Blak Excellence Live at Hanging Rock
Date: Sunday 27 November – The Gathering Place, Hanging Rock
The final event we will be covering this month, First & Forever, is a celebration of First Nations artists, bringing together musicians like Baker Boy, Jessica Mauboy, and Christine Anu, thanks to Mushroom Group, the Victorian Government, and Bad Apples Music.
It’s set to be a unique festival, described by the event itself as a “dizzying procession of acts interwoven in short, uninterrupted sets”, and a celebration of the “irrepressible force that is contemporary First Nations culture and music”.
