A Father’s Day To Remember: Unique Gift Ideas For Dad

Father’s Day is a day for celebration and appreciation. It’s a time to be grateful for all the fathers that have helped us to grow and navigate the weird and strange concept that is life. Unfortunately, sometimes it can be really difficult to get your father something for his special day. That’s why our private coach hire specialists have put together the following blog which will help you come up with some last-minute gift ideas that are sure to put a smile on your father’s face.

Father and Son Talking on Couch

A nice bottle of something

Let’s get the obvious out of the way first. A nice single-malt scotch (or whatever your father prefers to drink on occasion) is always a great choice as there are just so many options to choose from. Try to think a little outside the box and maybe pick something that has meaning to the both of you – like the first drink you shared, perhaps.

If he is a whisky drinker though, then it might be worth checking out Glenmorangie – as they recently picked up seven gold medals at the International Wine and Spirit Competition. Their new Quinta Ruban 14-year expression took one of those golds – along with their innovative Signet expression, which picked up its seventh gold medal and tenth medal overall.

An experience

Sometimes the best memories are made during the times that don’t happen very often. So why not treat dad to something a bit special? This could be a flight of beer, wine or a cocktail paired with cheeses at Milk The Cow, or it could just be a special Father’s Day buffet at one of the many hotels in the CBD.

If you don’t think he’ll like any of those, then go for something basic yet still unique – a brewery tour. There are a few different breweries in Melbourne that offer in-depth tours of their facilities and how they craft and refine their brew. These tours typically also include tastings either during or at the end of. Some popular breweries you can choose from include:

  • 2 Brothers Brewery: This brewery was started in 2007 by two Australian brothers that salvaged beer tanks from a defunct brewery in Times Square, New York. They offer weekly, free tours at their brewery in Moorabbin.
  • Carlton United Brewery: Easily the most recognisable beer brewers in Australia, CUB offer a variety of different tours in their Abbotsford brewery with meal combos during some sessions and live music on Sundays – as well as an A La Carte menu for after the tour.
  • Moon Dog Brewery: Offering free tours every Thursday night and Saturday afternoon, this micro-brewery offers some different sounding brews that are sure to leave a lasting impression on dad. After the tour’s done, you can relax in the cosy, rustic bar area where there’s a range of Moon Dog beers on tap.

One way to go about a brewery tour would be to assemble some mates and their dads and hire a private coach to get you to and from the brewery. That way you don’t have to worry about transport home, and you can all enjoy your day without having to choose a designated driver.

Play to his strengths

Think of something niche that your dad might like and go from there. If he likes to spend time in the garden, then look at a nice tool or maybe a wide-brimmed hat to protect him from the sun. If he’s a fan of his hot sauces, try and look for a unique and well-regarded sauce to buy.

Maybe the best Father’s Day gift could just be a day at the footy together or watching his favourite movie on Sunday. Try to think about what will be memorable and mean something to him – rather than just another toolset or car cleaning kit.
