See Victoria’s Fantastic Flora and Fauna

It is a well known fact that Australia is home to a great many wonderful species of plants and animals, from dangerous to benign and from pretty to awe-inspiring. We at Melbourne on the Move think that Victoria is one of the most beautiful and diverse places in the world, and there’s plenty of unique wildlife and beautiful natural landscapes to see here. Around 17% of Victoria is covered by protected national parks, and quintessentially Australian animals and birds such as kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, emus, wombats, kookaburras and lyrebirds can be found here.

Whether you are a birdwatcher, conservationist, botanist, or just a nature-lover, Victoria is bound to be a perfect holiday destination. Even if you have lived in Melbourne your whole life, you may not have had the opportunity to see all the wonderful places and creatures just a few hours’ drive away. We offer the perfect tours for seeing some of the beautiful local flora and fauna, and we welcome locals and tourists alike. Why not try these Melbourne on the Move tours?

The Grampians

Grampian National Park Victoria
Grampian National Park Victoria

These mountain ranges are rightly known as some of the most spectacular scenery in Australia. The highlight of this tour is definitely the panorama from Boroka Lookout, although the views from the Jaws of Death and Reeds Lookouts are also absolutely stunning. Ornithologists should bring their binoculars, as these are the perfect places to scan the skies and spot rare and interesting birds. Closer to the ground, this tour also provides a great opportunity to watch kangaroos, wallabies and emus. Bring your best camera!

Great Ocean Road Day Tour

One of our most popular tours, this jam-packed day takes in a wealth of beautiful scenery, but for nature enthusiasts, the best part has to be our stop in Great Otway National park, where you can see some of the world’s tallest trees. The huge eucalypts and redwoods are really stunning, especially when you consider that some are up to 300 years old. The Great Ocean Road runs adjacent to some of Australia’s most spectacular sights, but you needn’t take our word for it; have a look at a sneak preview of the Ocean Road in a video on our tour page.

If neither one of these tours tickles your fancy, then have a look at some of our others. There are several, such as Puffing Billy, that incorporate nature into a wider range of activities, and that may be best for a family with a mixture of different ages and interests. Our Puffing Billy tour is a day out that everyone will enjoy. That doesn’t make it any less special, though, as Puffing Billy travels through a pristine rainforest where you may be able to spot the elusive lyrebird, as well as other beautiful and rarely seen bird and animal species.

For a day that takes in Victoria’s natural highlights without breaking the bank, you won’t do better than Melbourne on the Move. Let us do the organising and driving, leaving you free to enjoy the natural world.
